Introduction

From time to time a pipe on your property may spring a leak. These often go undetected and your water bill may be the first indication that something is not right. If you have had a significant leak, you may be eligible for a rebate on part of your water account. Please read the Leak Remission Policy.

Information required

Information required to complete this application includes:
  • You are advising the Central Otago District Council of your water leak before the due date of the invoice in question. If the leak has been repaired by a registered plumber within 60 days of that notification, you may qualify for a remission
  • A remission for the same property must not have been given in the last 24 month period
  • You have a registered plumber’s invoice that you can attach. This must verify that a significant leak was discovered (minimal amounts will not be considered), where the leak was located, and that it has been fully rectified. NOTE: CODC does not pay or reimburse the registered plumber’s invoice/report.
  • Meter reads must confirm that consumption has returned to expected usage for the property
  • I understand that the amount of the remission will be 50% of the difference between the average consumption of the property and the consumption over and above that average.
